A family-friendly master planned community, Watersound is situated in a gorgeous location where residents enjoy both sugar sand beaches, and piney wood nature trails. Get to know the area with our guide to shopping, dining, and outdoor adventures of Watersound.

Watersound, Florida

Watersound is one of the best places to live in Florida. It’s one of sixteen beach neighborhoods in South Walton County. Here you’ll find a delightful small-town feel, reminiscent of New England’s townships.

The sun reflects off the blue gulf water about 237 days annually, meaning the pure sugar sand beaches can be enjoyed year-round. Such quaintness is available without sacrificing the conveniences of a larger city.  Panama City, less than 30 miles east, features an international airport, large retailers and many auto dealerships and service centers.

The Hub of Your New Neighborhood

The Watersound neighborhood is home to a number of boutique retail shops. They’re clustered in one area, known to locals as ”The Hub.”

You’ll find women’s beachwear and accessories at Oko and Anthea le Jardin. The Lens Bar is an authorized Maui Jim retailer and carries sunglasses for men and women. Stop by Mermaids of 30A for sea-inspired jewelry, artwork and water-ready mermaid tails.

Yellow Fly Trading Co is proud to offer an expertly curated collection of gifts, accessories and clothing for men and women.13 Hub Lane offers home décor for every style and design services to outfit your home with necessities and luxuries.

All this, plus restaurants and more make Watersound’s shopping district a destination for residents and tourists alike.

Restaurants and Dining

Shopping can work up an appetite, which is why The Hub on 30A has so many great places to eat like Duos All-American Eats, Super Freeze, Macho Taco, and Local Smoke.

Havana Beach Bar & Grill offers dining all day for those who love to eat whenever the mood strikes. Designers modeled the space after Hemingway’s favorite haunt in Havana, Cuba: El Floridita (according to the FBI).

A frequent visitor of El Floridita in the 1930s, Hemingway loved the daiquiris, as well as the atmosphere. Havana Beach Bar & Grill brings that ambiance stateside, along with fresh local meat and fish. Its rooftop lounge offers amazing views of the water.

Fish Out of Water, or FOOW as you may hear locals call it, is a great place for family dining. Located in the Watercolor Inn, you’ll easily find it by heading west along Highway 30A. Enjoy beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico while you dine in a casual setting.

Beaches

If you’re wondering how to get to know your neighbors, they’re likely out on the winding boardwalks and towering sand dunes.. They may also be lounging by one of the two zero-entry neighborhood and club pools, featuring 7,000 square feet of water..

Other Recreational Activities

If beaching isn’t your favorite activity, you can still immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery by meandering through the area’s numerous state parks, walking and biking trails. Timpoochee Trail, adjacent to Highway 30A, is a popular place to hike and dune lakes offer calmer waters for kayaking and paddle boarding

If you’d rather be driving, the gorgeous fairways of Camp Creek Golf Club’s par-72 course welcome you. This Tom Fazio designed course features a full 18 holes, plus a putting green and driving range.
